E-TEN glofiish X800 Half way to perfection.

In 2006 a new player appeared on the market which began its work by creating its own production. From the title it is easy to understand that we are talking about E-TEN, the company which proved the need in functional and more important productive communicators in Windows Mobile. An important role in the product success played the component and detail provider. You should agree that the Samsung details are closer to Marvell (Intel PXA) than to OMAP 850 from TI.

Nevertheless the company started actively working on the market in that beginning of 2007 with the appearance of the new model glofiish X500. But at that time the brand was not widely known and was mostly noted by the enthusiasts of the technology. While many firms use the help of the PR agencies E-TEN chose the way that should be mentioned in the marketing books of the 21 century.

The most important step of the E-TEN company became the follower of the X500+ with less strict design and Windows Mobile. This model is glofiish X800.

Compared to the strict design of the predecessor, X800 looks much more casual but at the same time it does not have the modern tendencies. The body is made of silver plastic, black plastic. The device is performed in the form factor of the monoblock with the dimensions 113.6x60.3x15.9 mm and the weight of the device is 146 grams which allows carrying the phone in almost all pockets without too many disadvantages. When you take off the cover the communicator automatically turns off, this is the only way of turning off the phone. Under the cover you can see the powerful battery – 1530 mAc. The battery maintenance:

• 4 hours with the maximum display lighting or 6.5 hours with the medium lighting.
• 13 hours reading with the minimum lighting
• 16 hours music listening without the display lighting

In general it should work 1,5 – 2 days. Regardless that the SIM slot is placed not near the battery department, the SIM extraction is only possible with the extracted battery.

E-TEN Glofiish X800 is based on the time checked apparatus platform from Samsung, the core of which is the 32 ARM processor SC32442. This is enough for work with the VGA display. In general the menu work is compared to its predecessor X500 and with the generation PPC Acer N3xx.

The operational system takes about 32Mb memory while the remaining 218 Mb are distributed in the following way:

• 173,22 Mb for the user’s data storage
• 45,2 Mb RAM memory out of which 27.54 is taken by the operational system.

As a result the user has only 17,66 Mb memory for the phone usage.

The other phone features:

• the supported standards: GSM/GPRS/EDGE
• wireless connection Bluetooth 2.0 with the A2DP&HDR, Wi-Fi IEEE support
• interface miniUSB for the PC connection
• multimedia 5+5

As a result we get a very close to perfect communicator without the keypad for a good price. This phone glofiish X800 can be recommended to all those who need the VGA display and the support of UMTS/HDSPA nets.
