Used cell phones

It is not a secret that in the world of technological progress today many things are used more than once. They are remodeled, processed and changed. This can also be said about cell phones. And it is interesting that every country finds a different use for used cell phones.

For example, in Latvia the green organization together with Latvijas Mobilais telefons opened the places for used cell phones collection all over the country. In 23 Latvian cities there are buckets for the used cell phones that will be recycled later. The Telecommunication Company Etisalat opened the used cell phones reception centers all over Dubai and Arab Emirates. The main goal of the company is making the citizens aware of the used cell phones danger. Every volunteer can leave his or her cell phone in one of the Etisalat business centers. The used cell phones collected from all over the country will be sent in containers back to the producing companies what will start their utilization.

In Estonia the problem with the used cell phones is completely different. Many of them are stolen and resold. This creates many problems for the cell phone users. So the mobile net operators created one "black list" where the stolen phones are noted. So a simple user can check any phone by introducing the phone IMEI. This is an additional possibility for the used phone acquisition.

In America used cell phones are not only for protecting the environment but also people. For example, Youth Women's Christian Organization in the program of home violence prevention (DVIPP) gathers used cell phones that are later programmed to make phone calls on just one number -911. These devices are given to the people who became victims of aggression, persecution or home violence. Some of the collected used cell phones cannot be programmed for this number. They are sent to the non commercial organization that buys used cell phones. As a part of this program about 100 used cell phones are given away to people annually.

So the applications of used cell phones can be different depending on the aims of the people taking care of them. But it is true that used cell phones can be useful as well as harmful.

So it is up to people to decide how to use them.
