NTT DoCoMo, Super 3G net

The Japanese mobile operator NTT DoCoMo representatives announced that during the outdoor tests of the experimental Super 3G system the data transfer speed via the wireless wide channel was up to 250 Mb/second. The field experiments with the help of the existing equipment were held near the research center a little bit to the South from the Japanese capital during all February. Four antennas with Multiple inputs and multiple outputs (MIMO) are used for the basic stations and mobile receiver. The equipment worked in the diapason 200 Mega hertz which completely satisfies the latest Super 3G standards.

Now the experiments on the channel work for the data transfer between the base stations continue and also on the functionality of the inside and outside equipment for the inside and outside usage.

Super 3G is the continuation of the protocol standard W-CDMA: High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) and High-Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) development. Another name of the same technology is Long Term Evolution (LTE). It should be mentioned that it has received the necessary specifications officially supported by the producers and entering the 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership project).

It is expected that in 2009 DoCoMo will present the equipment necessary for the commercial exploitation of the Super 3G nets, and the testing details will be presented at the forthcoming CTIA Wireless 2008 forum that will begin its work on the 1st of April in Las Vegas.
