Nokia phones will appear on sale with downloaded Skype

The Skype Company made the deal about pre-downloading its program for Internet conversation in Nokia mobile phones, as the Reuters from Mobile World Congress in Barcelona reports.

The largest mobile phone producer in the world will pre-download Nokia Skype in some of its smartphones by the third quarter 2009. More specifically, Nokia Skype will be downloaded on the N series phones including the one positioned as Mobile Computer N97.

Skype version for mobile phones already exists but it offers the users limited possibilities.

Most mobile operators are against Nokia Skype installed in mobile phones, being afraid of lower incomes in case the users will converse without any or with a low payment via Internet. Skype representatives affirm that the incomes will increase while using their program since the users will start using more internet services provided by operators.

Daily about one million conversational minutes are used from one mobile to another using Nokia Skype. By now about 300 million minutes were used on mobile calls.
