At the Mobile World Congress 2008 the Finnish Company Nokia presented it's new concept Nokia Remade.
The main feature of Nokia Remade is the fact that the body of the phone is made of used materials – aluminum cans and plastic bottles and automobile wires. The Nokia Remade display and its electronic parts are little energy consuming and are produced of harmless for the ecology materials.
According to Nokia the designers had a goal – to create a telephone out of used materials which could be produced in the world when the minerals and fossils will become rare.
Markus Tarho, the head of Nokia Ecology Department, announced that even now 40-60 % of the Nokia phone metallic parts are made of used materials. Besides he noticed that more ecologic phones are financially more productive. For example, since the beginning of 2006 when Nokia started producing smaller boxes for its products, till the end of 2007 the company saved 100 million euro on the transportation and materials.
